![]() The daily schedule can be grueling and hours fluctuate widely from peak to non-peak. They demand respect although none is given. It is made clear that those in charge, even the head of the department, do not care about you, your ideas, concerns, or opinions. ![]() The lack of professionalism is astounding. I have witnessed managers using fear amd threats to motivate staff because they do not have the first idea about how to be a leader. Managers/Supervisors/Leads have been hired or promoted regardless of their inability to perform the positions within the department. There have been many changes company wide and in my department. The CEO has no people skills and can be quite rude to the entry level staff on the front lines. This job started out fun and exciting with lots of wonderful things to learn, but due to bad decisions made by out of touch executives and extremely poor management, it turned into a very toxic work environment. The old CEO left not long after finding-out that there weren't going to be any more Dolphin Tale movies, thus, this tells you everything you need to know about where the aquarium's loyalties lie. The execs don't care about anything as long as the checks continue to clear. While the employees who do all of the work are nickel-and-dimed to death, the execs rake-in six figures, not caring that the aquarium is teetering on the brink of collapse. Another crowning achievement of the management team is in a cost-cutting measure, they tried to consolidate unrelated departments into one in an attempt to turn two jobs into one, therefore, forcing employees to do two jobs for the price of one. There have been multiple health hazards due to mold and shoddy electrical systems, further illustrating that those who manage the day-to-day operations are grossly incompetent. They even even planted a snitch in one department to spy on one of the managers they decided to hire! It is obvious to everyone that the people hiring these managers are grossly incompetent and should be held accountable. There has been more than one manager who had to be fired for ridiculous nonsense in the past few years. However, the employee turnover has become ridiculous to the point of three or four entire departments leaving in the past few years. ![]() This is at-least partially by design because the more people who leave, the less people they have to give pay raises to. There are better opportunities available, and I would advise anyone considering a role at the aquarium to look elsewhere. ![]() Overall, I would not recommend working for Clearwater Marine Aquarium due to the poor compensation and disrespectful management. This created a hostile and unwelcoming work environment, which made my time at the aquarium extremely unpleasant. Despite my hard work and dedication, I was often spoken to in a condescending manner and my concerns were not taken seriously. This left me feeling disheartened and undervalued.įurthermore, I found the management at Clearwater Marine Aquarium to be incredibly disrespectful. Despite working long hours and performing a wide range of duties, I felt that I was not being fairly compensated for my time and effort. Unfortunately, my time at the aquarium was plagued by a number of issues, particularly in regards to compensation and management.įirstly, the compensation offered at Clearwater Marine Aquarium was extremely poor. I recently had the unfortunate experience of working for Clearwater Marine Aquarium as a guest service attendant.
